There I was, back at Sirius XM with Storm, preparing for another interview on Weekend Work. This time, Coach PR and DJ Caesar would be talking to rapper and actor Joey Bada$$. Money Nels had come along as well, and seeing him brought back memories. It had been a while since the Purfek Storm offices closed on Wall Street, but the thought of that time still weighed heavily on me. Joey Bada$$ was there to discuss his rapidly growing acting career, his role on “Mr. Robot,” and his experiences touring with his music. But despite the fascinating subject matter, I found myself unable to focus on the conversation at hand. Instead, my thoughts kept drifting back to the night that Nels had talked me off the ledge. I had reached a point where it all seemed too much to bear, and I almost did the unthinkable. But Nels had been there for me, calling me at the most opportune moment, like a guardian angel. He pulled me back from the edge, and I couldn’t help but feel grateful for that. As I stood there, watching Joey Bada$$ share his story, I couldn’t help but think about how far I’d come since that dark night. The relaunch of Sunday Night Screenings may not have gone as planned, but I managed to pick myself up and keep moving forward. My thoughts were interrupted when Joey Bada$$ mentioned the importance of perseverance and surrounding yourself with people who believe in you. I looked over at Storm, who had always been there to guide and support me, and then at Money Nels, who had quite literally saved me from myself. I realized that I had been blessed with an incredible support system and that I had come a long way since my darkest moments. As we wrapped up the interview and said our goodbyes, I pulled Money Nels aside and thanked him for what he’d done for me. He smiled and told me that he’d always believed in me and my potential. I vowed to myself that I wouldn’t let him down, and with that, I took a deep breath, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
